Hello from France! Here, a lot of different sports are played and where I live there’s a famous soccer team: Paris Saint Germain. There, famous players from all over the world like Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé play.
Other of the most important sports are winter sports since there are five principal mountain ranges in France. In the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, France won their medals principally thanks to biathlon. This sport consists of two disciplines: cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Other important winter sports are alpine skiing, acrobatic skiing and cross-country skiing. In all of these sports, the skiers usually start skiing when they are little children and study in special schools where they practice a lot of their sport.
Another crucial sport in France is rugby. The French rugby team won this year the Six Nations Tournament, a tournament that France hadn’t won in eleven years! Each year, when the national team plays in Paris, the public transport is crowded and you can hear people singing the national anthem, wearing all sorts of blue, white and red outfits- the colours of the national flag!
As in the rest of the world, the Olympic games are very important and they will be hosted in Paris in 2024.
Sports have a huge importance in France and it often makes people forget their differences and enjoy something they all like!
