Sports are a fundamental part of a nation’s culture and can be enjoyed by both spectators and players. The United States is no exception. Games like basketball and American football are unique to the U.S. and dominate its entertainment broadcasting in tournaments like the Super Bowl. But there are other games that sports fans enjoy watching, or playing themselves!

Another sport that is particularly unique to North America is baseball. It is very similar to the game of cricket played throughout the world in countries that were former British colonies. A team tries to score points by having its players bat a ball that permits them to run through four bases. The other team must try to prevent the opposing players from completing a home run by catching the ball in mid-air or passing the ball to the bases to get the players out. The slow pacing of the game doesn’t make it as popular as other games like football and soccer, but many people enjoy playing it themselves. Many school districts have baseball teams and clubs or fields in schools where students can play kickball during recreation or physical education. Kickball is the same concept as baseball, but you kick a bigger ball rather than batting.

Volleyball is also a game enjoyed by many Americans. It is a popular sport in many schools, but is especially played at the beach. In this game, two teams hit the ball with their hands over a net until one team misses the ball or hits it out-of-bounds. This simplicity and easy set-up makes it very fun to play at the beach, where it is common to find volleyball nets that only require someone to bring their own ball. All this makes up a lot of fun outdoor games to play in the U.S.
